It's simple really, just look at it like a tree. Our garage turned commercial kitchen, front yard garden and home are the roots, the Boutique is the trunk and the branches are all the possibilities to come. Back to Eden bakery has been running as a small cottage industry wholesale bakery for the last year. We wanted to test the waters of Portland with a small overhead to see what the demand was for another vegan bakery.
Vegan or bust was our mission and we hoped there was room for all vegan businesses because who wouldn't want more vegan options! The answer was yes, but with a catch! Wholesale was working but we weren't really set up to profit from a wholesale operation, oh and the fact that we missed our community and wanted so badly to be serving you personally! So what did we do? We transitioned! From wholesale to retail!
